3 days Tsavo East & West Safari Kenya

3 Days Tsavo East & West Safari Kenya Itinerary

Pick up from your beach resort, hotel, airport, or residence in Mombasa and drive to Tsavo East National Park. The drive will last approximately 2-3 hours before arriving at Tsavo East national Park in time for lunch.
After lunch you will relax then at around 1530hrs begin spotting animals where you may be able to see a wide variety of animals.

Animal expected to be spotted

Lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, serval cats, kongoni, kudu, oryx, impala, hyena, gazelle, buffalo and the “red” elephants (colored by the reddish soil which they apply on their bodies during sand bathing).

Birds

Around 500 bird species have been observed in the park, including ostrich and several species of migratory birds.
Tsavo East is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Kenya. The elephants seem to have red colour, just like many other animals in the park, which is caused by the red dust which they tend to spray themselves on against insects or parasites.

Man Eaters

The lions of Tsavo owe their fame to the book and movie “The Man-eaters of Tsavo”. Here, a few lions ate several railroad workers during early 20th century. The lions were later shot dead.
It seems the reason they attacked people was because of their dental arrangement, which made it difficult for them to tear off buffalo’s or gazelle’s meat.
At around 1830hours drive back to the lodge/camp of choice for dinner and overnight stay.

Safari Accommodation Options in Tsavo East National Park

Take an early morning breakfast before departing Tsavo East national park with a game drive en route.

The drive will last approximately 1 hours with a brief stop at the Shetani Lava flow; the most recent volcanic activities before arriving at Tsavo west national park and have your lunch at the Camp/Lodge  which shall be offered in their open restaurant overlooking a waterhole frequently visited by animals.

At 1600hours, while embarking for the evening game drive, you will have a chance to spot different wild animals such as elephants, lions, leopards, herds of buffalos and different species of birds then proceed to Mzima springs which is the freshwater source for Mombasa city.

At Mzima, Springs you have a chance to see hippos and crocodiles on a guided nature walk with a ranger. For better visibility, there is a special underwater viewing chamber at approximately 1830hrs thereafter proceeding back to the lodge or camp of your choice.
